My son is stationed at 29 Palms Marine Base and our family wanted to visit that area and stay where he could easily join us for a few days. We didn't expect to do much sightseeing; primarily just spend time together at the rental property. I researched the area for (4) bedrooms, (2) bathrooms and an in-ground pool. There weren't a lot of properties with those filters...and this one stuck out because it also had a very nice game room! We couldn't have been happier with our choice. This property is VERY well stocked with stuff a visiting family would need, from fully stocked kitchen to laundry soap! The pool area is great and also stocked with a bunch of "floaties"...which we used a LOT....spending 8-10 hours each day enjoying the pool area. The game room was also a welcome group space, with video games, billiards, ping pong, darts and more. We also spent a fair amount of time in the main living room watching movies and listening to music on the nice Audio/visual equipment. The A/C worked great to keep the entire house comfortable even though the outside temps were 105+ degrees each day. Our vacasa representative, Monica, was very responsive to the few needs/questions that we had. I really don't have any complaints about this property...it is exactly what we hoped for. I suspect others will look at this review and think it's a fake review, but it is 100% real and true. I typically don't write reviews, only doing so if things are really good or really bad. You won't regret staying at this location.

We had a nice stay at the house, but there were several things that were wrong. I emailed Vacasa customer service, but never got a response. Mantle above fireplace is not secured, my friend hit her head and piece fell on her foot :(. Dishwasher leaked (and garbage disposal broken), water all over kitchen and a kid slipped and fell. AC kept going up to 86 degrees on matter how many times we reset it. Some of the furniture was broken and uncomfortable (couch and dining chairs). Dog poop in backyard. Broken glass under couch outside. We did like the property, especially the game room! But some of things need to be addressed asap.

We loved the location, the saltwater pool, the garage game room (nice touch!), and it’s on a cul-de-sac which is perfect for kids scootering and playing.

Description says there’s an HOA. This isn’t true, based upon real estate listings in the neighborhood. It also says it’s a gated neighborhood. This is also false. Therefore, it was unnecessary to provide Vacasa with our vehicle license plate number based on their reasoning that it was required by the HOA/community.

Vacasa really pushes the quiet time of 10pm and reminds you “it is the city municipal code.” I was told by our Vacasa rep that no loud music or sound amplifiers are allowed outside. I said that’s a little ridiculous since our kids scream/play louder than music while swimming.

So, please read the municipal code. Essentially, outdoor music is allowed as long as it reasonably does not bother other neighbors. Be wise; don’t ruin things for other future guests by blasting music. Likewise, Vacasa needs to accurately portray the municipal code to its guests.

The check-in process could have been better. The rep called/FaceTimed the day prior to check us in. Real nice. Then the day off check in, I got an email stating i needed to check in personally at their office. I finally reached a real person, and he actually told me the information in the email was wrong and they needed to change it. “We’ve actually had a lot of customers get very confused by that information.” What!? So fix the email!!

Vacasa’s original description said they charge $72 USD to heat the pool. When I called and asked about it, she said the fee is PER DAY. I noticed Vacasa updated their description to accurately reflect this.

I asked about heating the spa one time via the Vacasa text message communication option. The rep texted that we could hear the spa for no additional cost. When we arrived at the house and it was time to heat it, we could not because the phone rep said we did not pay for it. Nate (Vacasa Manager) called me and listened to my complaint about being told two different things. Nate made it right and allowed us to heat the spa and pool for no cost with assistance from Pete. I greatly appreciate Nate (and Pete) for rectifying the situation, but it was annoying to deal with.

In the hot Sun, that pool was already 80°F without heating it. So paying the astronomical fee to heat it seems like a complete waste and money-grab by Vacasa.

Vacasa charges $85 for late checkout (4 more hours…extended from 10am to 2pm). Not worth it. Another money-grab.

Also didn’t like that the 2 landscapers walked into the backyard with no warning from them or Vacasa. Real awkward. They need to warn the guests when landscapers will be there.

Vacasa’s customer communication is poor overall. They did not respond to me through VRBO (until 3 weeks later, after we’ve already stayed there). I ultimately texted their number (Text2Chat) and received a response. I was left hanging when I asked about heating the spa, so I had to re-engage communication. As mentioned, Nate called and was east to speak with. Nobody got crazy. It was fine.

We’d stay at the house again, but I could do without Vacasa.
