Melvyn's is a legendary Palm Springs classic. This acclaimed downtown Palm Springs restaurant has both a glorious past and an active and celebrated present: it's a place where you feel as if Frank Sinatra could walk in at any moment...and when Sinatra lived in Palm Springs, he was a frequent visitor at Melvyn's along with countless other stars of yesteryear. Melvyn's is a classic supper club-style, set in a romantic and nostalgic inn located just west of downtown Palm Springs. The menu is reminiscent of New York in the 1930s: Shrimp Cocktails, Oysters Rockerfeller, Steak au Poive, French Chicken Breast, and countless other tributes to the past. Piano Bar, dancing, open for lunch and dinner. Featuring Sunday Brunch. Dinner is served 6-10 daily. Lunch Monday-Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Reservations suggested. A reasonable dress code is enforced, no jeans or shorts, for example.

I am a repeat customer of Melyvn's...more so for the piano bar then the restaurant, but I make a point to go here every time I visit. It is the essence of the old 20's Palm Springs that I love.

If you're going to stay at this house, then you have to go to Melvyn's for dinner one night and really feel like you're in Old Hollywood. It is a total blast-from-the-past yet surprisingly good food. The waiters had worked there 37 and 25 years respectively and were a hoot. Haven't had so many...

The food was good, but definitely very rich. So be prepared for that. The waitstaff is very attentive and friendly. And the "lounge" area (which you pass through on the way to the bathroom) is hilarious. It's quite the scene on a Saturday night.
