Experience a wonder of Palm Springs architecture at The Aluminum House, a renovated, two-bedroom retreat that sits within sight of the San Jacinto Mountains in the wonderfully central neighborhood of Movie Colony East. Only Albert Frey, in Palm Springs, was known to have used strong, lightweight, all-aluminum frames like this one, which dates back to 1953. The living space was ahead of its time, with walls of windows that let in the sunlight, an open kitchen, and front and rear patios that allow you to relax outdoors at any time of day. The windows throughout the home were also recently renovated and reimagined by H3K design. There's a private swimming pool with great sun exposure, plentiful outdoor seating for lounging and dining, as well as a firepit where you can unwind beneath the stars each evening.

This home is located in the desirable Movie Colony East neighborhood of Palm Springs, where it's surrounded by other architectural gems and celebrity homes. You'll be a few blocks from the tennis courts at Ruth Hardy Park, and less than a mile east of Palm Canyon Drive - the main strip in downtown Palm Springs that's lined with celebrated restaurants, boutiques, antique shops, casinos, and other attractions. The Palm Springs Art Museum is just over a mile west, Palm Springs International Airport is two miles southeast, and the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is less than seven miles west.

Things to Know

Outdoor music is prohibited. Music that is played indoors must not be heard outdoors. City ordinance states that any music that is audible from the property line is a violation. People noise during the day is permissible but must be measured and reasonable. Daytime is considered 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.

The utility deposit is $1,500 for 28 nights with $375 added for each additional week the guest stays.

I really don’t want to trash this place, because I know it belongs to someone and it really is a beautiful home. But you cannot rent it to unsuspecting vacationers without warning them about the street noise, particularly with the pool being in front and very close to the road. It really is unfair not to set that expectation in advance, and certainly not at the nightly rate for this (otherwise very nice) property.

overall, the Aluminum House was a nice place to stay. it was well appointed and the bed was really comfy. as advertised, it was walking distance to downtown PS, which was great! however, there were three very disappointing things about the place.1. there was no working tv. i admit, i'm on the old side. at home we watch cable and stream Hulu. this house had three TV's and every one of them required a streaming service to watch. we were unable to watch TV during our entire stay. did Vacasa bother to tell us this before? nope. we ended up reading books, which in the greater sense of things, was probably not a bad alternative.2. the spin cycle on clothes washer doesn't work. after three hours, waiting for it to spin and drain, we had to put soaking wet clothes in to the dryer to get them dry!3. the shower head in the master bath was installed wrong. it cannot be adjusted so that it doesn't spray water against the glass door, which then runs out on to the floor. fortunately, there was another shower in the other bathroom, but still - an unworkable shower in the master?

It's a small but nicely equipped vintage midcentury home in a great location. Three patios to enjoy the outdoors. A small pool that would be good for kids to cool off in. The back patio in particular is private and mostly quiet. We had a couple of issues with the pool but Vacasa took care of them during our stay. The location is very convenient to most Palm Springs activities. There is some road noise and deferred maintenance so only four stars here.

The Aluminum House is a fantastic base camp for exploring Palm Springs and the surrounding area. It is well appointed, meticulously clean, and comfortably cozy. Cooking is a snap in a kitchen that has almost everything you need. There is even a natural gas Weber grill just outside. Highly recommend for one or two couples.

Great space in a very convenient location. Check in was seamless!!! The place was so well appointed, the kitchen allowed us to cook at home with ease, they had everything. Very cute, clean, and private. Made our Spring Break very enjoyable. The Aluminum House was cute, clean, and had all the amenities we were looking for in a vacation rental. We need to stay longer next time!! It was nice swimming in a pool that we didn`t have to share with anybody else

Loved the house! It was perfect for my party of 4. Super cute/trendy. The house had many needs already (ie stocked kitchen with accessories). Would definitely recommend. Also the front desk was super nice about letting us hold our bags there on Easter Sunday.

The house was amazing. It was exactly as shown and was in perfect condition. Of special note - the kitchen was stocked for a gourmet chef, there were plenty of towels and blankets, and everything was comfortable and clean. The process for check-in was smooth, the house was perfect and the kitchen was well stocked.
